| ENGINEERING YOUR SAFETY | ONSTAR AUTOMATIC CRASH RESPONSE | |||||
With its rugged frame, robust body structure, four-wheel antilock brakes and one-year OnStar service, Sierra surrounds you with well-placed confidence. In fact, 2010 Sierra 1500 models received an NHTSA Five-Star Frontal Crash Safety Rating. This is the highest possible government crash-test rating. |
In a crash, sensors around your vehicle can automatically send an alert to OnStar. An OnStar Advisor can be immediately connected to your vehicle to see if you need help. Even if you’re unable to respond, the Advisor will use advanced GPS technology to pinpoint your exact location to direct emergency help — even in areas of limited |
cellular reception. The Advisor can also relay critical crash information to emergency responders such as severity and type of crash so the responders are better equipped to treat you at the scene. With Automatic Crash Response, you get the help you need even if you can’t ask for it. Visit onstar.com for details. |

| DUAL-STAGE FRONTAL AIR BAGS | SIDE-IMPACT AIR BAGS | STABILITRAK | TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM | |||||
Dual-stage front air bags on Sierra 1500 models feature sensors that gauge the severity of a crash and determine whether to deploy one or two levels of inflation, helping to reduce risk of injury to passengers. Sierra 1500 models also feature a Passenger Sensing System for the outboard front passenger, which automatically turns off the air bag if the passenger is under an appropriate weight. |
For side impacts, 1500 models include standard air bags mounted on the driver and outside front passenger seat, which provide thorax and pelvic protection for outboard front-seat occupants. Head curtain side-impact air bags4 are also standard on 1500 models as well. They unfurl from the roof rail and function like a protective curtain for outboard passengers and can be activated by either rollover sensors or side-impact sensors. |
If your Sierra is not responding adequately to your steering input, the StabiliTrak stability control system instantly adjusts engine speed and brake pressure to any individual wheel to help you keep on track. StabiliTrak and traction control are standard on select 2500HD models and on all 1500 models. |
The standard Tire Pressure Monitoring System makes sure each tire is properly inflated for optimum handling and control, and warns you which tire is low via the Driver Information Center. (Does not monitor the spare tire; not available with Dual Rear-Wheel models.) |

| Government star ratings are part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA’s) New Car Assessment Program (www.safercar.gov). Optional on WT trim. Call 1-888-4ONSTAR (466-7827) or visit onstar.com for details and system limitations. OnStar acts as a link to existing emergency service providers. Air bag inflation can cause severe injury or death to anyone too close to the bag when it deploys. Be sure every occupant is properly restrained. Always use safety belts and the correct restraint for your child’s age and size. Even in vehicles equipped with the Passenger Sensing System, children are safer when properly secured in a rear seat in the appropriate infant, child or booster seat. Never place a rear-facing infant restraint in the front seat of any vehicle equipped with a passenger air bag. See the Owner’s Manual and child safety seat instructions for more safety information. Head curtain side air bags are designed to help reduce the risk of head and neck injuries to front- and rear-seat occupants on the near side of certain side-impact collisions. | ||||||||
